The average lifespan of a U.S. woman is 79.3 years. According to Mayo Clinic, the average age of menopause is 51 with the entire process of perimenopause taking 7-10 years to complete. In other words, you could experience the effects of menopause for half of your life... and half of your life is too long to be confused about the changes you are experiencing. Menopause causes hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain, low sex drive, discomfort and pain, urinary incontinence, bone loss, depression, and brain fog, just to name a few. It is not a question of if, but when. If you are a woman and you live long enough, you will experience perimenopause and menopause symptoms at some level. This is not the time to give up it is the time to be confident and become the best you can be.
The maze of menopause is filled with unmodifiable lifestyle changes. However, as women in harmony, we can learn to navigate these changes by managing modifiable lifestyle changes such as nutrition, exercise, healthy sleeping routines, and habits. Let’s start by building confidence, accepting ourselves, and developing a positive self-image.Take a moment to reflect on who you are and who you want to be and lean into your strengths. Don’t compare yourself to any other woman, this is your journey. Strive for progress, not perfection, and envision a plan, then set goals. This may seem like a vast undertaking, but if you want it, you can make it happen.
